guidelines for the CHAPTER RECOGNITION AWARD
The Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) Chapter Recognition Award recognizes the outstanding efforts of one of ANAC’s chapters in meeting the mission of the organization, which include:
- Creating an effective network among nurses and other members of the healthcare team in HIV care
- Providing leadership to the nursing community in matters related to HIV and/or its comorbidities
- Studying, researching and exchanging information, experiences and ideas leading to improved care for persons with HIV and/or its comorbidities
- Social advocacy and actions for persons with HIV and/or its comorbidities, or for other related social justice and human rights issues (examples, unhoused, LGBTQ rights, anti-racism, equality, etc.
- Promoting social awareness concerning issues related to HIV and/or its comorbidities
Application Criteria and Instructions:
- Any chapter maintaining a current chapter charter for a minimum of two years is eligible for this award.
- A current chapter officer must complete the application. Also included is the consent to apply for this award, to be signed by the chapter president.
- Chapter applicants have met all deadlines and demonstrated satisfactory reporting requirements for a minimum of the previous two consecutive years.
There are TWO ways to apply for the award:
- Complete the attached application form, which includes a detailed description of how that chapter implemented the mission of ANAC.
- Create a video presentation, which includes a detailed description of how that chapter implemented the mission of ANAC. There must be a narrative accompanying the video, detailing these points. The platform can be a video format or PowerPoint with pictures, documenting the chapter activities. The video should be no longer than 10 minutes and will need to be uploaded to YouTube. The YouTube link must be included in your application for judging and awarding.
Completed applications must be received in the ANAC office no later than March 31, 2025. Please submit all documents via email to anac@anacnet.org. Late or incomplete nominations will not be accepted.
Scoring Rubric:
The Chapters Committee chair will review the all applications to determine adherence with all reporting requirements for the previous two consecutive years and forward the confirmed applications to the full Chapters Committee for scoring.
Applications will be scored using the following criteria (0-3 points per category):
1. Overall significance of chapter activities which promote the mission of ANAC:
- Creation of an effective network among nurses in HIV care:
- Provide leadership to the nursing community in matters related to HIV
- Study, research, and exchange information, experiences, and ideas leading to improved care for persons with HIV
- Advocacy for patients with HIV
- Promotion of social awareness concerning issues related to HIV
2. Number of years the chapter has been in existence.
3. Chapter’s ability to identify the needs of its community and target those needs with appropriate programs.
4. Chapter’s ability to coordinate and collaborate on the part of its elected officials, board members and chapter committees.
The ANAC Chapters Committee will review and select the recipient of this award. The chapter will receive a commemorative plaque, a $250 cash award and complimentary conference registration for two chapter representatives to attend the ANAC Conference in Philadelphia, PA, November 5-8, 2025.
