Research Committee

The Research Committee promotes the integration of research into activities of the association and serves as a resource for novice to experienced HIV researchers.

Objectives

  • Provide expert consultation to the Board of Directors and Executive Director on research related issues that may impact on the organization and its members.
  • Facilitate a collaborative network of HIV nursing researchers.
  • Provide research related professional development opportunities for novice and early career researchers.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Review and rate submissions to the annual Sigma Theta Tau/ANAC Research Award Program.
  • Review and rate abstracts for the annual conference.
  • Select recipients of ANAC's Researcher of the Year Award.
  • Judge student posters at the annual conference.
  • Plan and implement a research session for the annual conference.
  • Engage in other activities as needed to advance the research mission of the organization.

Time commitment

Members meet for one hour monthly, including an in-person meeting or those able to attend the ANAC annual conference. Members should expect to attend a minimum of 8 meetings per year and contribute up to 8 hours of service annually, as needed, to meet the Committee's peer review obligations. ANAC may request the committee to meet on an ad hoc basis as organizational needs warrant.
