San Antonio Chapter
(Last Updated 2005)
The Greater San Antonio Chapter of ANAC was chartered at the national conference in New Orleans in November, 2004. It was started by a group of six nurses who got together at San Antonio College in May, 2001 to discuss how a local chapter could be conceived. Those six nurses were Paul Alfieri, Pam Vanderwall, Marco Alanis, Bessie Prado, Janis Boyer, and Rachel Davis. At that time, the nurses present chose the leaders of the group who would spearhead the development of the local chapter. Paul Alfieri was chosen to act as president and got in touch with leaders from national ANAC including Gail Kropf and Peter Oates in order to determine how to get the chapter going.
A meeting date and time was chosen for the next time that the group would meet. A speaker and drug rep were selected for that meeting with dinner to be offered to those present. Since that time, meetings have been held on a regular basis at least every 3 months. The number of local members has continued to grow. Presidents of the chapter have included Paul Alfieri and the current president Mark Meyer.
