Global HIV Workforce Survey

A global initiative of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) Global Advocacy Working Group

Why This Survey Exists

In the past year, the global HIV response has faced a funding crisis unlike anything our community has seen in recent memory. Programs have been cut, staff have been let go and patients who depend on continuity of care are being left behind. The providers, nurses, community health workers, advocates and researchers closest to this work are making impossible decisions every day.

Made up of nurse leaders from various countries committed to advancing HIV advocacy on a global scale, the ANAC Global Advocacy Working Group believes those experiences need to be heard. This survey brings together frontline voices from around the world to show the real impact of funding cuts, share what is helping services continue and build the evidence needed to advocate for the support HIV workers and their patients deserve.

Who This Survey Is For

This survey is open to anyone working or volunteering in HIV-related care, programs, research, advocacy or community services — regardless of your role, setting or country. You do not need to be an ANAC member to participate.

This includes:

  • Nurses and clinicians.
  • Community health workers and peer educators.
  • Program managers and coordinators.
  • Researchers and M&E specialists.
  • Social workers and case managers.
  • Public health practitioners and policy professionals.
  • Advocates and community organizers.

If you work in, or alongside, the HIV response, your voice belongs in this survey.

How Findings Will Be Used

Data collected through this survey will be analyzed and reported by the ANAC Global Advocacy Working Group. Findings will be used to:

  • Inform ANAC's international advocacy on HIV funding and workforce support.
  • Produce a public report documenting the global impact of funding cuts on the HIV workforce.
  • Amplify the voices of frontline HIV workers in conversations with funders, governments and global health bodies.
  • Support partner organizations in making the case for sustained investment in HIV care.

A summary report will be published on the ANAC website. All participating organizations who share the survey will be notified when findings are available.
