The HIV/AIDS Nursing Certification Board (HANCB) is excited to welcome anyone interested in becoming an HIV/AIDS Certified LPN/LVN (ACLPN), HIV/AIDS Certified Registered Nurse (ACRN) or Advanced HIV/AIDS Certified Registered Nurse (AACRN).

The HIV/AIDS Nursing Certification Board is a nonprofit professional organization. Our mission is to improve the quality of HIV nursing care and prevention, promote competency of nurses caring for persons with HIV and recognize this professional achievement through a certification and recertification process.

Nursing practice in HIV requires a complex knowledge base and range of skills, including pathophysiology, learning principles, family dynamics, grief and loss, coping with chronic illness, care of immunocompromised clients, risk assessment and risk reduction. It is important to utilize the standard of care to maintain an adequate knowledge base in this evolving field.
