Before AIDS had a name, before ANAC was born – when everyone was a novice – nurses were on the frontlines of the epidemic.  You helped calm irrational fear, provided compassionate care, and comforted the dying and those left behind.  Nurses challenged policy makers who dared to remain silent, and opened the White House AIDS Office, even though your own ranks were also being hard-hit by AIDS.  Along the way to becoming experts, attending the deaths of far too many, you also kept tens of thousands of people with AIDS alive.  A great fan of nursing who has also made the journey from novice to expert over the last quarter century joins ANAC to say, “Thank you for my life!”
